Chap. 159.—An ACT to authorize the Chesapeake and Ohio railway company to
extend its line of transportation into the city of Norfolk, Virginia, and to
enjoy wharf, warehouse and all other terminal facilities therein.

1. Beit enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the Ches-
sapeake and Ohio railway company be, and it hereby is, authorized and
empowered to extend its line of transportation into the city of Nor-
folk, Virginia, either by the use of boats, steamers and vessels, or
partly by such and partly by rail, and to construct, own, use, trans-
fer and otherwise enjoy wharves, docks, warehouses, piers, eleva-
tors, passenger and freight depots and all other terminal facilities in
the city of Norfolk, and to connect such improvements with each
other and with any other transportation, wharf, warehouse or ter-
minal company doing business in the city of Norfolk by means of
way tracks, and to make all contracts with any such transporta-
n, wharf, warehouse or terminal company as may be convenient
the proper transaction of the business of the company, full power
ing hereby given to acquire by purchase, condemnation, lease or
erwise, such lands and rights as may be necessary for the pur-

2. Before said company shall begin to construct its railway or
er improvements upon or in any of the streets or parts of the
eets of the city of Norfolk, the consent of the councils of said

ull be had under such terms and regulations as said council may
