Chap. 139.—An ACT extending the time for the collection of taxes for the year
1893, in the county of Bedford.
Approved February 6, 1804.
Whereas the office of county treasurer of the county of Bedford
has been in an unsettled condition since the first day of August,
eighteen hundred and ninety-three, owing to financial troubles of
the treasurers, and the board of supervisors of the said county have
refused to make the county levy, and in consequence no opportunity
has been given to the tax-payers of said county to pay their taxes
prior to the first day of December, eighteen hundred and ninety-
three, and thus escape the penalty of five per centum affixed by law
for non-payment of taxes prior to that time: therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
treasurer of the county of Bedford shall not until March first, eight-
een hundred and ninety-four, add to the taxes due by the tax-payers
of said county for the year eighteen hundred and ninety-three the
five per centum provided by law for failure to pay prior to the first
day of December.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
