Chap. 83.—An ACT for the relief of W. H. Eanes, of the city
of Petersburg, Virginia.
Approved January 22, 1892.
Whereas in the month of September, eighteen hundred
and ninety, a warrant was sworn out in the city of Peters.
burg, charging one Spratley Barker with embezzlement
which said warrant was placed in the hands of W. H.
Eanes, chief of police of said city, for execution ;
And whereas the said Spratley Barker, having become
fugitive from justice, was afterwards, to-wit: in the montk
of January, eighteen hundred and ninety-one, arrested ir
the city of Raleigh, North Carolina, on the charge con.
tained in said warrant;
And whereas, by reason of the consent of said Spratley
Barker, he was brought under arrest by the said W. H
Eanes to the said city of Petersburg for trial without the
formality of a requisition, and upon such trial was con.
victed ;
And whereas the expense incurred by the said W. H
Eanes, in the premises, amounted to the sum of thirty dol.
lars and sixty cents; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia
That the auditor of public accounts be, and he is hereby
authorized and directed to draw his warrant upon the
treasury in favor of the said W. H. Eanes, for the sum of!
thirty dollars and sixty cents, in full payment for the ser.
vice and expense recited above, to be paid out of any
money in the treasury not otherwise appropriated.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
