Chap. 81.—An ACT to allow Charles M. Shannon, late deputy
treasurer of Smyth county, and B. F. Petree, late deputy trea-
surerof Bland county, further time to distrain for and collect
certain tax tickets in their hands.

Whereas Charles M. Shannon, late deputy treasurer of
Smyth county, has in his hands various uncollected tick-
ets for taxes and levies, state and county; and whereas
B. F. Petree, late deputy treasurer of Bland county, has
in his hands various uncollected tickets for taxes and
levies, state and county, none of which have been by either
returned delinquent; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia,
That authority is hereby given the said late deputy treas-
urers of Smyth and Bland counties, Charles M. Shannon
and B. F. Petree, to collect the amounts due on said tick-
ets; and to that end, the late deputy treasurers named in
this bill shall have power of levy and distress given coun-
ty treasurers by existing laws, and such laws amendatory
thereof as may hereafter be enacted: provided that such
power shall continue not longer than one year from the
date of the passage of this act: and, provided further,
that none of such tickets which might have been collected
prior to January the fifteenth, eighteen hundred and eigh-
ty-seven, shall be collected under authority of this act.
2. This act shall be force from its passage.
