CHAP. 747.—An ACT toincorporate the Great council of Virginia
improved order of Red men.
Approved March 4, 1892.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
John W. Cherry, O. E. Hatcher, O. F. Wise, W. J. Traylor, Ira
T. Holt, Henry L. Carter, H. M. Hale, L. B. Moore, G. W.
Amory, B. W. Downey, C. S. Wells, C. E. Hill and R. W.
Carter, with euch other persons as under the rules or
usages of the order are now or hereafter may be associated
with them as members, be, and they are hereby, created a
body politic and corporate under the name and style of the
Great council of Virginia improved order of Red men, and
by such name and style may sue and be sued, plead and
be impleaded, and have perpetual succession and a com:
mon seal.
2. The said corporation, for the purposes of its organiza-
tion, which are hereby declared to be social and benevo-
lent in their character, may purchase, hold, alien or en:
cumber estate, real and personal, at any point or points in
the state: provided that such real estate shall not at any
time exceed five acres, or in value the sum of one hundred
thousand dollars altogether.
8. It shall have power from time to time to establisk
or change its places of session, as well as the location o!
its principal offices at or to such place or places in the
etate as it may deem expedient or proper.
4. It shall have power, in furthering the purposes of itt
organization, to establish subordinate councils or tribe:
at different points in the state, and for their and its ow:
better control and government may, from time to time
declare and promulgate such constitutions, by-laws an«
rules, being not inconsistent with the general law, as toi
may seem expedient and proper.
5. This act shall be in force from its passage.
