CHAP. 744.—An ACT to incorporate the Radford wheelmen.
Approved March 4, 1892.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia,
That Warner J. Kenderdine, Melmoth M. Osborne, Wil-
liam W. Darnell, Richard H. Lytle, George W. McGregor,
Arthur Roberts, Joseph R. Kemp, Charles M. Caldwell and
Theodore Labrum, and such other persons as are now as-
sociated as the Radford wheelmen, or may hereafter be
associated with them, are hereby constituted a body cor-
porate by the name of the Radford wheelmen, to be located
in the city of Radford, Virginia, for the purpose of the
mutual enjoyment of its members in the pursuit of cycling
as a pastime; the promotion by force of example of the
use of the bicycle, or similar machines, as practical and
enjoyable aids to locomotion, the advancement of cycling
interests generally, including the awakening of greater
interest in better roads and the promotion of good fellow-
ship and comfort among its members.
2. The said corporation shall have power to make and
adopt a constitution and by-laws, rules and regulation for
the admission and expulsion of members and their gov-
ernment; the election of its officers and to define their
duties, and for the safe-keeping and protection of its pro-
perty and funds, and from time to time to alter or repeal
such constitution, by-laws, rules and regulations: provided
that the same be not inconsistent with the constitution
and laws of the United States or the state of Virginia.
3. The said corporation may purchase or lease any real
estate or personal estate: provided that the real estate
held by them at any time shall not exceed one acre of
Jand. :
4. The present officers shall hold their offices for thei
unexpired terms and until their successors are elected,
unless it shall be otherwise ordered in the next general
meeting of said corporation.
5. The present constitution and by-laws of said corpor-
ation shall remain in full force and effect until amended,
altered or repealed as provided by said constitution.
6. This act shall be in force from its passage, and be
subject to amendment, alteration or modification at the
pleasure of the general assembly.
