Chap. 742.—An ACT to provide for the appointment of road su-
perintendents for the counties of Pittsylvania and Halifax, and
to prescribe their duties.
Approved March 4, 1892.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia,
That at the April term of the county courts of Pittsylva-
nia and Halifax, eighteen hundred and ninety-two, and
every two years thereafter, there shall be a superintend-
ent of roads appointed for each magisterial district in
said counties, whose duty it shall be to go over the roads
in hie district at least twice a year and see that the roads
are kept in good order, clear of roots and rocks, and
free from the falling of dead timber, and report every
overseer to the grand jury whose road has been out of or-
der for twenty days. Each superintendent is to receive
two dollars per day for every day he is actually engaged
in going’over his road precinct, but is not to receive over
thirty dollars for any one year. Before entering upon the
duties of his office he shall enter into a bond, with good
security, for the faithful performance of his duties.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
