CHAP. 612.—An ACT to amend and re-enact the tenth subdivi-
sion of section 183, chapter 14 of the code of Virginia, relating
to the salaries of the superintendent of the penitentiary, sur
geon, assistant keepers and clerks.

Approved March 8, 1892.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia,
That the tenth subdivision of section one hundred and
eighty-three of chapter fourteen of the code of Virginia be
amended and re-enacted so as to read as follows:

§ 183. Tenth.—Of superintendent of penitentiary, sul-
geon, assistant keepers and clerks.—The superintendent of
the penitentiary, the sum of sixteen hundred dollars; the
surgeon, seven hundred and twenty dollars; the first 28
sistant keeper, seven hundred and twenty dollars; the sec-
ond, third, fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh assistant keep
ers, each, six hundred and forty dollars; the clerk, 81x
hundred dollars; the assistant clerk, six hundred dollars,
and the matron, four hundred and eighty dollars.

2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
