CHAP. 529.—An ACT to amend and re-enact an act entitled ‘‘an
act to incorporate the Portsmouth park railway and develop-
ment company,’’ approved February 28, 1890.
Approved March 1, 1892.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia,
That the act entitled “an act to incorporate the Ports-
mouth park railway and development company,” approved
February twenty-eighth, eighteen hundred and ninety, be
amended and re-enacted so as to read as follows:
§ 4. Said company is authorized to construct and ope-
rate a street railway, to run over and through the streets of
Portsmouth, Virginia, upon such terms and conditions as
may be prescribed by the council of said city, and for the
purpose of connecting with such park or parks, or other
improvements as may be established, shall have the right
to extend, construct, maintain and operate a railway—its
cars or trains to be operated and moved by either horse or
steam power, or by electricity—to any point within twenty
miles of said city, in the counties of Norfolk or Nanse-
mond. Said road shall be begun in two years from Feb-
ruary first, eighteen hundred and ninety-two, and be com-
pleted in five years from said date.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
