Chap. 413.—An ACT to incorporate the Botetourt normal college
at Daleville, in the county of Botetourt.
&pproved February 2, 1892.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia,
That I. N. H. Beahen, D. N. Eller, J. C. Beahen, F. M.
Stutsman, and C. E. Arnold, and such other persons as
may hereafter be asyociated with them, and their succes-
sors, be, and they are hereby, constituted a body corporate
by the name and style of the trustees of Botetourt normal
college, for the purpose of conducting a high seminary of
learning in the county of Botetourt, this state, to be known
as Botetourt normal college, and shall have perpetual
succession and a common seal, sue and be sued, plead and
be impleaded; the corporation at no time to consist of
less than five nor more than fifteen persons.
2. The said corporation shall have power to acquire by
purchase, gift, devise, or bequest property, real and per-
sonal, and may hold, manage, control, sell, convey, or dis-
pose of said property solely for the benefit of Botetourt
normal college: provided the value thereof shall not ex-
ceed at any time one hundred thousand dollars: and pro-
vided further, that a majority of all the trustees shall vote
affirmatively on any proposition for the mortgage or sale
of said property. |
3. The said corporation shall have power to make and
adopt, alter or amend by-laws, rules, and regulations not
contrary to the laws of this commonwealth for the admis-
sion and expulsion of members, and for the government of
the said Botetourt normal college; may appoint professors
and other officers, and prescribe their duties and their
renumeration, and confer literary degrees and honors.
4. This act shall be in force from its passage.
