Chap. 379.—An ACT to extend the corporate powers of the
Buena Vista land company, of Roanoke, Virginia.
Approved February 25, 1892.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia,
That the Buena Vista land company, of Roanoke (a cor-
poration duly chartered by the judge of the corporation
court of Roanoke city), is hereby authorized and em-
powered to construct and operate a railway from any point
on or near the property owned by said company, near the
city of Roanoke, to a point on the Norfolk and Western
railroad, or any other railroad now built or which may
hereafter be built in the city of Roanoke, Virginia, or in
the counties of Roanoke, Botetourt and Craig, or from a
point on its property to a point on the line of right of
way of the Roanoke and Southern railroad, within the
county of Roanoke: provided, however, that the line built
and operated by the said company shall not exceed a
greater distance than fifty miles.
2. The said company is also hereby authorized and em-
powered to condemn land for its uses in the manner pro-
vided by law in the case of corporations organized for
works of internal improvements.
3. The said company is also empowered to borrow money
and issue bonds and other evidences of debt, and to secure
the same by mortgages, deeds of trust, or otherwise.
4. Provided, that the work of construction of the said
road shall be begun within two years and completed in
five years from the passage of this act.
5. This act shall be in force from its passage.
