CHAP. 356.—An ACT to amend and re-enact an act entitled ‘‘An
act to enlarge the powers of the town of Buchanan, in the county
of Botetourt,” approved March 3, 1890.
Approved February 25, 1892.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia,
That the trustees or council of the town of Buchanan be,
and ‘are hereby, authorized to change the name of said
town; to extend its corporate limits to a point one and a
half miles west of its present western limits on either side
of James river; to allow the use of its streets for street or
other railways, and to condemn land therefor in any man-
ner not inconsistent with the laws of Virginia governing
the condemnation of lands for such purposes; to borrow
money and secure the same by an issue of bonds for the
purpose of improving the streets and to build water-works,
gas-works, and electric-light works; and to unite, consoli-
date, or merge with any other city or town now or hereaf-
ter chartered under the laws of Virginia.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
