Chap. 329.—An ACT for the payment to Charles 8. Scott, of Fred-
ericksburg, Virginia, forty-five dollars for coupons accidentally
destroyed by fire.

Whereas Charles S. Scott, of Fredericksburg, Virginia,
was, on the first day of January, eighteen hundred and
ninety-two, and stil] is, the owner of six five-hundred-dol-
lar coupon bonds of the state of Virginia, issued under the
act of the general assembly, approved February fourteenth,
eighteen hundred and eighty-two, known as the “ Riddle-
berger bill,’ numbered respectively as follows: Numbers
seven hundred and sixty-six, one thousand and seventy-
nine, one thousand and ninety-five, one thousand two
hundred and nine, one thousand two hundred and ten,
and one thousand two hundred and fifty-two; and whereas
the coupons detached from said bonds, which matured on
the first day of January, eighteen hundred and ninety-
two, amounting in the aggregate to the sum of forty-five
dollars, were accidentally destroyed by fire before the
same were paid by the commonwealth of Virginia, and
while the said coupons were the property of said Charles
S. Scott; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia,
That the treasurer of this state be directed to pay to the
said Charles 8S. Scott, out of any moneys not otherwise
appropriated, the sum of forty-five dollars, the aggregate
amount of the coupons destroyed by fire, upon the said
Charles 8. Scott giving bond to said treasurer with good
security in the sum of one hundred dollars, payable to the
commonwealth, with condition to indemnify the state of
Virginia or any individual against all loss by reason of
the payment by the treasurer of said sum of forty-five
dollars. |
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
