Chap. 284.—An ACT to allow George W. Butts and W. C. Whit-
ney to erect a pier on Chuckatuck creek for the purpose of
building a guard-house.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia,
That W. C. Whitney and George W. Butts, of the county
of Nansemond, be authorized to erect a pier at the mouth
of Chuckatuck creek, on the oyster flats known as Higby’s
bar, for the purpose of erecting thereon a smal] house ta
serve a8 a guard-house in protecting from depredatione
oysters planted on said flats: provided, said pier shall not
obstruct navigation on said creek or river.

2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
