CHaP. 278.—An ACT to authorize the sale of certain church
property in the county of Rockingham.
Approved February 16, 1892.
Whereas the old school Baptist congregation of Lin-
ville’s creek, in Rockingham county, Virginia, has be-
come almost extinct; and whereas the church property
belonging to said congregation known as Linville’s creek
old school Baptist church, is not used any longer by said
congregation; and whereas it is desirable that some other
denomination become the owner of said property and
continue the same as a place of worship; and whereas
Michael Coffman and Charles T. Acker, are the only two
surviving trustees of said church property; and whereas
there is an old school Baptist congregation in Brock’s
Gap, in said county; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia,
That the said trustees are hereby authorized and em-
powered to sell the said Linville’s creek old school Bap-
tist church (consisting of the meeting-house and the
land belonging thereto) to any other religious denomina-
tion, to be held, kept and used by it as a place of worship,
nd to make a proper deed conveying the same to the
urchaser, and shall pay over the net proceeds of such
ale to the trustees of the church property of the old
chool Baptist congregation in Brock’s Gap, to be used
or the benefit of said last mentioned congregation.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
