Chap. 256.—An ACT to amend and re-enact section 2848 of the
code of Virginia in relation to personal service of notice of
protest.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia,
That section twenty-eight hundred and forty-eight of the
code of Virginia be amended and re-enacted so as to read
as follows:
§ 2848. What equivalent, in city or town, to personal
service of notice of protest—In any city or town, the
sending of a notice of protest or dishonor of a bill, note,
or other negotiable instrument, properly addressed, by
mail, to any person residing therein, or whose post-office
is therein, shall be deemed equivalent to personal service
of the notice on such party.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
