CHAP. 231.—An ACT to amend and re-enact section 2 of an act
approved February 12, 1876, entitled an act to incorporate the
amber of commerce of Richmond.
Approved February 16, 1892.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia,
That section two of an act approved February twelfth,
eighteen hundred and seventy-six, entitled “an act to in-
corporate the Chamber of commerce of Richmond,” be
amended and re-enacted so as to read as follows, viz:
§ 2. That the real and personal property, revenues, and
other concerns of said chamber of commerce, and the ad-
ministration of its affairs shall be under the exclusive
direction of the active resident members of said chamber
and the officers and board of directors appointed or elected
for said body. The officers of said chamber shal! consist of
a president, two vice-presidents, secretary and treasurer;
and the board of directors shall consist of such number as
may be deemed best by the chamber and prescribed by
its constitution and by-laws, regularly adopted by it from
time to time. The officers and directors shall hold their
offices as prescribed by the constitution and by-laws, and
shall fill all vacancies in said offices and board occurring
during their term. They shall also have power to adopt
such by-laws and regulations as they may deem proper
for the government of said chamber and board, not incon-
sistent with the laws of the state and the United States,
and to enforce the same by such pecuniary penalties as
they may deem proper. They shall also have the power
to appoint such agents and employees, and do any other
act which they may deem necessary and proper to carry
on the work and promote the interests of the chamber.
All the acts and proceedings of said chamber and its
board, done or had since the twenty-ninth day of Novem-
ber, eighteen hundred and eighty-nine (when said board
was increased from fifteen to twenty-five) are hereby val-
idated and confirmed by this act to the same extent as if
said board had been legally constituted al] the time from
said twenty-ninth day of November, eighteen hundred
and eighty-nine.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
