CHAP. 157.—An ACT for the protection of deer in the counties
of Bland, Tazewell, Smyth, and Wythe.
Approved February 4, 1892.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia,
That it shall be unlawful for any person in the counties
of Bland, Tazewell, Smyth, and Wythe to kill or capture
any deer, or chase any deer with dogs with intent to kill
the same (such deer not being his own, tamed or inclosed
in a park) for the period of five years from the passage of
this act.
2. Any person violating the provisions of this act shall
be fined fifty dollars, or imprisoned thirty days in the
county jail, or both, at the discretion of a jury.
3. In any prosecution of a person for a violation of this
act, in killing or capturing -deer, the possession of such
deer shall be prima facie evidence of his guilt.
4, This act shall be in force from its passage.
