CHAP. 10.—An ACT to authorize the board of supervisors of the
county of Surry to compromise certain claims due said county.
Approved December 17, 1891.
Whereas there is due the county of Surry, by R. A.
Cocke, late treasurer of said county, and his sureties on
his official bond, the sum of one thousand five hundred
dollars, with interest thereon from the first day of July,
eighteen hundred and eighty-six, on account of county
levy collected by said late treasurer; and whereas said
Cocke and a majority of his sureties are of doubtful sol-
vency ; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia,
That the board of supervisors of the county of Surry be,
and is hereby, authorized and empowered to compromise
with said sureties any debt due by them to the county,
upon such terms and in such manner as they may deem
most advisable for the interest of said county: provided
such compromise be made and definitely settled within
six months from the passage of this act, and that no relief
be granted said Cocke under this act.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
