Chap. 89.—An ACT to amend and re-enact chapter 1 of the act
of Assembly of 1875-'76, approved December 22, 1875, prescrib-
ing the time for holding the circuit courts in the firat judicial
cireuit.
Approved February 19, 1890.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia,
That an act approved March thirtieth, eighteen hundred
and seventy-five, entitled an act for prescribing the times
for holding the circuit courts in the first judicial circuit,
and amended and re-enacted by an act approved December
twenty-second, eighteen hundred and seventy-five, be
amended and re-enacted so as to read as follows: The city
of Portsmouth, on the fifth day of March and fifth of Sep-
tember; the county of Princess Anne, on the first day of
April and first day of October; Nansemond, on the tenth
day of April and tenth of October; Isle of Wight, on the
twentieth day of April and twentieth of October; South-
ampton, on fifth day of May and fifth of November; Nor-
folk county, on fifteenth day of March ‘and fifteenth of
September; Norfolk city, on the twentieth day of May
and twentieth of November.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage, and all
acts in conflict with this act are hereby repealed.
CHAP. 90—An ACT to amend and re-enact section 601 of the
code of Virginia, in relation to payment of taxes by clerks of
courts.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia,
That section six hundred and one of the code of Virginis
be amended and re-enacted so as to read as follows:
§601. When clerks to pay into the treasury; their com-
missions.—Al] sums received by any clerk under this
chapter, after deducting a commission of five per centum
thereon, shall be paid into the treasury on or before the
fifteenth day of December next after he shall have made
out a statement thereof pursuant to section five hundred
and ninety-two: provided, that whenever the aggregate
amount of taxes, fines, and other public moneys in the
hands of the clerk at any time shall exceed the sum of
five hundred dollars, he shall, after deducting a commis-
sion of five per centum thereon, immediately pay the
same into the treasury, although he may not have made
out the statement aforesaid. In case of failure so to pay,
proceedings shall be had according to the provisions of
chapter thirty.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
