CHaP. 216..—JOINT RESOLUTION fixing a site on the capitol
grounds for the statue of General Williams C. Wickham.
Approved March 5, 1890.
Whereas the city of Richmond, through its council and
mayor, has requested the Wickham monument association
to present the statue of General Williams C. Wickham to
the said city, to be placed by it upon one of the public
parks; and whereas the whole state of Virginia is inte-
rested in preserving this memorial of one whose devotion
tothe commonwealth has rendered his name dear to the
people of Virginia; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the senate (the house of delegates concir-
ring), That a site for the said statue be, and the same is
hereby, dedicated by the commonwealth of Virginia in
honor of his memory, upon such portion of the capitol
grounds as may be selected by a committee consisting of
the president pro tempore of the senate, the speaker of
the house of delegates, and the superintendent of public
buildings and grounds; and full power and authority is
hereby given said committee in the premises.
