CHAP. 141.—An ACT to amend and re-enact sections 1 and 2 of
chapter 431 of the acts of the General Assembly of Virginia of
1887-'88, re'ating to the transfer of a certain claim of the state
of Virginia against the government of the United States to the
Mt. Vernen Avenue Association.
Approved February 28, 1890.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia,
That sections one and two of chapter four hundred and
thirty-one of the acts of the general assembly, for the
session of eighteen hundred and eighty-seven and eighteen
hundred and ecighty-eight, be amended and re-enacted so
as fo read as follows:
§1. Be it resolved by the general assembly of Virginia,
That the said claim of one hundred and twenty thousand
dollars of this state against the United States, growing
out of the loan aforesaid under the act of this assembly,
passed December twenty-seven, seventeen hundred and
ninety, be, and the same is hereby, transferred to the said
Mount Vernon avenue association, chartered as aforesaid
hy this state, and that said Mount Vernon avenue associa-
ion be, and it is hereby, empowered to demand, collect
nd receive the said claim and the interest therefrom from
he government of the United States; and when recov.
red or received from the United States the said associa-
ion shall pay from the gross amount so recovered 01
eceived by it, to B. P. Green and J. A. Parker, the law-
ully appointed agents of the state of Virginia, heretofore
nd now entrusted with the collection of such claim, such
ommission as they may be entitled to receive under the
ct of March twelve, eighteen hundred and eighty-four.
82. That the net balance of the recovery of said claim
eft after the payment to the agents as provided for by
he foregoing section, shall be retained by said Mount Ver.
Ion avenue association, and used by it for all the expenses
neident to carrying out the objects and purposes of its
‘harter now granted, or as the said charter may hereafter
changed, modified, or amended by this assembly.
