Chap. 85.—An ACT to incorporate the Morrison Lodge of Bro-
thers of Friendship.
Approved January 24, 1890.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia,
That R. T. Smith, William 8S. Hawley, William C. Morgan,
Norman Morgan, William J. Saunders, Albert Shrieves,
and William J. Smith, and such other persons as are now
or may hereafter become associated with them, be, and
they are hereby, incorporated and made a body politic
and corporate by the name and style of “ Morrison’s lodge
of brothers of friendship,” to be located in the county of
Warwick, for the promotion of charity, mutual assistance,
and social intercourse, and by that name shall have per-
petual succession and a common seal; may sue and be
sued, plead and be impleaded.
2. The said corporation shal] have power to make and
adopt a constitution and by-laws, rules and regulations
for the admission and expulsion of its members and their
government, the election of its officers and to define their
duties, and for the safe-keeping and protection of its pro-
-perty and funds, and from time to time to alter or repeal
such constitution and by-laws, rules and so forth; pro-
vided, that the same be not inconsistent with the consti-
tution and laws of the United States or of the state of
Virginia.
3. The said corporation may purchase or receive by
deed, gift, or devise, and hold and lease any real or per-
sonal estate ; provided, it shall not hold real estate exceed-
ing in value ten thousand dollars.
4. This act shall be in force from its passage.
