CHAP. 601.—An ACT to authorize George B. Hoffman to erect
a wharf on his property on Pungoteague creek, in Accomac
county.
Approved March 6, 1890.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia,
That George B. Hoffman be, and he hereby is, authorized
and permitted to erect a wharf on his property lying on
Pungoteague creek, in the county of Accomac, and into said
creek, for the purpose of shipping oysters and any other
commodities to and from the same for himself and others ;
said wharf to be erected on any part of the water front of
the lands of the said Hoffman that he may elect. The
said George B. Hoffman, his heirs and assigns, shall have
the right to charge and collect such compensation for the
use of said wharf as may have been agreed upon by and
between the parties, or as is usual: provided, that this wharf
shall not obstruct navigation; and provided, also, that
this act shall at all times be under the control of the gene-
ral assembly, and be amended or repealed as may he
deemed proper.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
CuHuap. 602.—An ACT to enable the board of directors of the
Richmond Chamber of Commerce to receive subscriptions to
stock for the purpose of erecting a building for the accommo-
dation of its organization and for other purposes.

Whereas the Richmond chamber of commerce, an asso-
ciation duly incorporated by the general assembly of Vir-
ginia by an act approved February twelfth, eighteen hun-
dred and seventy-six, is desirous of purchasing a site and
erecting a building suitable for the use of its officers and
members and for the accommodation of such other trade
organizations, business offices, et cetera, as it may be ex-
pedient and profitable to have located in said building;
therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia,
That the board of directors of said chamber of commerce
is hereby authorized with or without notice, to open books
and receive subscriptions to stock, from time to time, as
they may deem expedient, until the stock is fully taken
to the extent of one hundred thousand dollars, and all
subscriptions to the stock of this association for the pur-
pose mentioned, shal] be payable at such times and places
and in such manner and amounts as said board of direc-
tors may prescribe.
2. Such subscriptions may be received from individuals,
other associations or corporations, and any corporation of
this state is hereby authorized to subscribe to this stock.
3. The board of directors shall have power to issue
bonds, either registered or coupon, or convertible the one
with the other, in sums of one hundred dollars, or multi-
ples thereof, and bearing interest not exceeding six per
centum per annum, and may secure the same by mortgages
or deeds of trust upon the property of the association.
4. All taxes, dues and demands due the state, or that
may hereafter become due by this association to the state
of Virginia, shall be paid in lawful money of the United
States and not in coupons.
5. This act shall be in force from its passage.
