CHAP. 380.—An ACT to amend and re-enact section 2 of chapter
196, of actsof assembly 1883-84, in relation to working the roads
in Frederick, Clarke, Warren and Augusta counties.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia,
That section two of chapterone hundred and ninety-six,
acts of assembly eighteen hundred and eighty-three and
eighteen hundred and eighty-four, entitled an act to provide
for the working of the roads, repairing bridges, and open-
ing new roads in the counties of Frederick, Clarke, Warren
and Augusta, be amended and re-enacted so as to read as
follows:
§2. For each road district in the county of Frederick there
shall be created and established a board consisting of the
supervisor, 2 commissioner of roads, and one director for
each district, which board shall have control of the roads
and bridges within its limits; and all taxes levied for road
purposes and for building and repairing bridges shall be
expended in each road district. except as hereinafter pro-
vided. The board hereby created and constituted is de-
clared to be a body politic and corporate, and shall be
known and designated as the board of commissioners
of roads for road district. The .road districts
named in this act shall be of the same extent and limits
as the magisterial districts as now constituted, and the
qualified voters herein referred toshall] be taken to mean
such persons as may be the qualified voters of each magiste-
rial district. The said directors hereinbefore named shall
at the county election in May, eighteen hundred and ninety,
and every two years thereafter, be elected by a majority of
the votes cast at said election of the voters of the magiste-
rial district f.r which said directors shall serve.
2. This act shall apply to the counties of Clarke, War-
ren and Augusta, whenever a majority of the board of su-
pervisors of each of said counties shall, at a general or
special meeting thereof, adopt the act for each county, and
the original second section shall stand unamended in gaid
counties until this amendment is accepted as above pro-
vided by said counties respectively.
