CHAP. 374.—An ACT to authorize the county of Albemarle to
subscribe $500 to the Monticello guard armory.
Approved February 28, 1890.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia,
That the board of supervisors of Albemarle county be,
and they are hereby, authorized and empowered to contri-
bute the sum of five hundred dollars towards the building
of an armory hall and building in the city of Charlottes-
ville, for the use and occupation of the white military
company, known as the “ Monticello guard,” or the use of
any other white military company which may be organ-
ized in said city. The said contribution shall be made
on such terms, conditions, and restrictions as to the said
board shall seem right and proper; and in case of viola-

restrictions, or the disbandment of such company, the
said board is to have the power to call in its said contri-
bution and enforce the repayment of the same by a sale
of the said building, if necessary: provided, however,
every such company shall always remain subject to the
call of the sheriff of Albemarle county as provided in sec-
tion three hundred and sixty-eight, chapter twenty-one of
the code of Virginia of eighteen hundred and eighty-
seven.
2. For the purpose of raising the money for the afore-
said contribution, the said board of supervisors shall have
authority to issue a coupon bond of the county for the said
sum of five hundred dollars, at a rate of interest not greater
than six per centum, which shall fall due in not over
twenty years, and on which the interest shall be paya-
ble semi-annually; but the said bond, if made to bear six
per centum interest, shall not be negotiated by the county
for less than its face value.
38. This act shall be in force from its passage.
