CHAP. 344.—An ACT to authorize the board of supervisors of
Halifax county to borrow money to build a jail.
Approved February 24, 1890.
1. Be it 8nacted by the general assembly of Virginia,
That the board of supervisors of Halifax county be, and
they are hereby, authorized and empowered, at any meet-
ing at which a majority of said board shall be present, to
issue bonds (coupons or otherwise, in their discretion ), in
the name of Halifax county, not exceeding twelve thou-
sand dollars in the aggregate, the proceeds thereof to be
used in building a county jail in said county. The said
bonds, issued in pursuance of this act, shall be for five
hundred dollars each, and shall be payable at such times
and in such instalments as the said board of supervisors of
said county shall deem expedient. All of said bonds shall
bear interest, payable at a rate not exceeding six per cen-
tum per annum, and shall be signed by the chairman of the
said board of supervisors, and be attested by the clerk of the
county court of said county, and have the seal of the said
court affixed thereto.
2. The debts contracted and evidenced by said bonds
shall be levied for by the board of supervisors upon such
subjects as are now, or may be, liable for the county levy,
for the payment of both principal and interest therefor, as
the same shall fall due, and the faith of the county shall
also be pledged to such payment.
3. This act shall be in force from its passage.
Chap. 345 —An ACT declaring Pigg river in Franklin coun ty be-
tween certain poiuts a lawful fence.
Approved February 24, 1990.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia,
That that portion of Pigg river from Zigler’s mill, in said
county, to Muse’s ford, in Pittsylvania county, be and the
same is-hereby declared a lawful fence.
2. All acts and parts of acts inconsistent with this act
are hereby repealed.
3. This act shall be in force from its passage.
