Chap. 292.—An ACT to authorize the town of Blackstone, Vir-
ginia, to borrow money and to levy a tax for same.
Approved February 18, 1890
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia,
That the common council of the town of Blackstone be, and
is hereby, authorized to borrow a sum of money not ex-
ceeding five thousand dollars by bonding the town of Black-
stone, Virginia, for said amount; the money so borrowed
to be used exclusively for the water-works of the town of
Blackstone, Virginia.
2. That for the money so borrowed the common council
be, and is authorized, to issue bonds in the name of the
town of Blackstone, Virginia, to be signed by such officer
or officers of said town as the ordinance of the council au-
thorizing the loan may prescribe. The principal of the
said bonds shall fall due within thirty years from their
respective dates, and the interest shall be payable semi-
annually.
3. That the principal and interest of said bonds shall be
provided for by the town council. The towncouncil shall
have authority to levy a tax on all real and personal
property in said town not exceeding seventy-five cents on
the one hundred dollars’ worth of property for said pur-
poses.
4. This act shall be in force from its passage.
