Chap. 240.—An ACT to amend and re-enact section 9 of an act
incorporating the Air Line turnpike company.
Approved February 17, 1890.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia,
That section nine of an act incorporating the Air Line
turnpike and drawbridge company, approved January
eighteen, eighteen hundred and eighty-four, be amended
and re-enacted so that the same shall read as follows:
§9. This company shall have the right to acquire an
interest in or consolidate with any other turnpike or draw-
bridge company or railroad company in this state, and
shall have full power, right and authority to permit and
suffer the use of its roadbed by any such railroad company
for the purpose of constructing and operating a railroad
over and along the same, and to build on its property such
depots and buildings as required; and any such railroad
company or turnpike or drawbridge company shall have
the right, privilege, and authority to acquire, by purchase,
lease, or otherwise, an interest in or to consolidate with
this company; and any railroad company exercising the
privilege, right, or authority hereby given, may construct
and operate a railroad over the property of this company,
and build thereon such works, depots and buildings as
may be necessary for its use and the enjoyment of the
privilege given by this act.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
