CHAP. 239.—An ACT to incorporate the United States harness
and manufacturing company.
Approved February 17, 1890.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia,
That E. Latham, E. O. Sawyers, A. T. Heusey, J. M.
Bishop, John H. Soule, E. H. Murrell, Frank Hume, John
M. Johnson and F. E. Alexander, be, and they are hereby,
constituted a body politic and corporate, under the name
and style of the United States harness and manufactur-
ing company, and shall have the right to sue and be sued,
to use a common seal, and enjoy the usual privileges of a
corporate body.
2. The capital stock of the corporation shall be not less
than five thousand dollars nor more than one million dol-
lars, to be divided into shares of the par value of fifty
dollars each. The company shall have authority to issue
and sell its stock at, above, or below par for money, ser-
vices or other thing, and the stock so issued on terms
agreed between the company and the subscriber, or pur-
chaser from it, ahalt be deemed paid up to all intents and
purposes.
3. The iinieing! office of the company shall be in Alex-.
andria, Virginia, and may establish branch offices any-
where else.
4. The chief business of the company shall be the
manufacture and sale of buckles, bridles and harness;
and it may acquire and hold, own and enjoy such letters
patent as have been already or may hereafter be purchased
by or assigned to it, in whole or in part, for any article to
be so manufactured or used in such manufacture.
5. The said company may acquire and hold, use and
enjoy, mortgage or sell, real estate not exceeding fifty
acres in any one county or city of this State.
6. The said company may sell the right to manufacture
and sell any article of which it holds the patent right in
such territory as may be agreed.
7. All taxes, dues, and so forth, due or to become due
by this company to the state of Virginia, shall be paid in
lawful money of the United States and not in coupons.
8. This act shall be in force from its passage.
