Chap. 99.—An ACT to empower the board of directors of the Central
Lunatic asylum to authorize the construction and operation of rail-
ways upon the land belonging to said institution.
Approved May 2, 1887.
Whereas it is proposed to build a railway from the main
line of the Norfolk and Western railroad company, in the
county of Dinwiddie, and also a railway from the terminus
of the street railway in the city of Petersburg to the Central
Lunatic asylum of Virginia, and to the gr nite quarries situ-
ate on the tract of land belonging to said asylum, and on the
two tracts of land adjacent thereto, and whereas the construe-
tion and operation of said railways, or of both or cither ot
them, will greatly promote the interests of said institution ;
therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That the board
of directors of said asylum shall have, and is hereby given
authority to grant to the parties proposing to construct said
railways, both or either of them, the right to du so upon said
tract of land belonging to said asylum, “subject to such terms
and conditions as said board may deem necessary for the due
protection of the interests of said institution and of the com-
monwealth. .
2. This act shall be in force from its passage, and all acts
or parts of acts in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
