Chap. 83.—An ACT to incorporate the Virginia field-sports association.
Approved April 28, 1887.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
John S. Wise, Theodore S. Garnett, Edward. S. Ruveles,
Armistead Gr. Taylor, William J. Hubard, B. FP. Way man,
William C. Kennesly, Wyndham B. Robertson, W. Miles
Carv, John i. Grubbs, William S. Archer, Richard C. Seldon,
Polk Miller, Barton IL. Grundy, John W. Pieree, George LU.
Nixon, and such other persons as they may sce fit to asso-
ciate with them, be and they are hereby created into a body
politic and corporate, under the name and style of the Vir-
cima ficld-sports association, with the right to enjoy perpetual
succession, have a common seal, make such constitution and
by-laws as they may see fit. not ineonsistent with this act
and the constitution and laws of the State of Virginia and
the United States; sue and be sued, contract and be contracted
with, with all the attributes of a corporation,
2. The purposes for which said corporation shall exist. are
as tollows: The association of gentlemen with a view to pro-
curing and securing enforcement of a wise and judicious
system of laws for the preservation of the game of this com-
monwealth; restocking. as far as the means of the association
will permit, sucb portions of the State as are depleted of
game; offering rewards as faras the means of the association
will permit, for the killing of game-destroying animals and
birds; the encouragement of an interest on the part of the
people | in the preserving ot ame, the observing of game laws
and intorming upon and securing the punishment of the vio-
lators of suc hi laws; also for the encouragement of gentle-
manly sport and the breeding of sporting dows, by field trials
and bench shows.
3. The officers of said association shall consist of a presi-
dent and seven vice-presidents, to be chosen from lower tide-
water, the Northern neck, Southside Virginia, Piedmont, the
Upper and Lower Valley, and Southwest Virginia, respect-
ively; also a sceretary, treasurer, and executive committee
of five or more, to be chosen for such terms as said associa-
tion by its constitution or by-laws may determine.
The principal office of said association shall be at Rich-
mond. and all taxes shall be paid in money.
5. Said association may acquire, hold, enjoy, and dispose
of real estate not exceeding five thousand acres at any one
time.
6. This act shall be in force from its passage.
