Chap. 78.—An ACT to repeal an act to authorize the bourd of super-
visors of Halifax to let public roads to contract, approved March 1,
Is834, and to amend and“re-enact section 27 of an act entitled an act
to provide for the working and repairing public roads and bridges.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
an act entitled an act to authorize the board of supervisors of
Halifax county to let public roads to contract, approved
March first, eighteen hundred and eighty-four, be and the
same is hereby repealed. -
2. That section twenty-seven of an act entitled an act to
provide for the working and repairing of public roads and
bridges, be amended and re-enacted so as to read as follows:
§ 27. Provided, this act shall not apply to the counties of
Statford, Franklin, Southampton, Pittsylvania, Floyd, Aeco-
mac, Gloucester, Middlesex, Essex, King and Queen, Caroline,
Orange, Prince George, Surry, Dinwiddie, (rreenesville, Sus-
sex, Beunswick, Nottoway, Lunenburg, York, Richmond,
Northumberland, Westmoreland, Lancaster, Isle of Wight,
Nansemond, Lee, Wise, Dickenson, Louisa, Spotsylvania,
Campbell, New Kent, Charles City, Roanoke, Montgomery,
Craig, Mathews, King William, Henry, Patrick, Prince Eu-
ward, Princess Aune, Fluvana, King George, and ILalifax,
until the same shall have been adopted by the board of super-
Visors of those counties respectively > and until such action is
taken by them the road laws now in force shall continue in
force in those counties.
3. This act shall be in force from its passage.
