Chap. 433.—JOINT RESOLUTION rescinding joint resolution here-
tofore adopted relative to the granting of licenses, &c.
Appraved May 24, 1837,
1. Resolved by the Senate (the House of Delegates con-
curring), That a joint resolution prohibiting the granting of
licenses for the transaction of any business or the pursuit of
any occupation or profession, or the enjoyment of any privi-
lege for which license is requgred by law, for a longer period
than from the date of the issuance of such license to the first
day of June, eighteen hundred and eighty-seven, and pre-
scribing the amount to be paid for such licenses, ayreed to by
the Senate on the twenty-second day of April, eighteen hun.
dred and cighty-seven, be and the same is hereby rescinded
aud repealed, nor shall anything therein be construed to pro-
hibit the granting of licenses for the transaction of any
business or the pursuit of any occupation or profession, or
the enjoyment of any privilege for which licenses are autho-
rized to be granted by the laws of this State, in force on the
first day of June, eivhteen bundred and eighty-seven, or
thereafter: provided however, that any person holding a
license which will expire on the first day of June, eighteen
hundred and eighty seven, may have the same continued in
force until the thirtieth day of April, eighteen hundred and
eighty-cight, by simply paying in lawful money to the proper
receiver of license taxos, eleven-twelftbs of the amount re-
quired by the revenue laws in force on the first day of April,
eighteen hundred and eighty-seven, for a similar license for
the period of twelve months. And the amount to be paid
for any license which is first to take effect on or after the
first day of June, eighteen bundred and cighty-seven; shall
be eleven-twelfths of the amount required by the revenue
laws in force on the first day of April, eighteen hundred and
eighty-seven, for a similar license for a period of twelve
months. But where by the revenue laws in force on the first
day of April, eighteen hundred and ecighty-seven, the issuing
of license is limited to a period less than twelve months, the
amount to be paid therefor shall be the same as required by
the revenue luws in force on the first day of Aprii, eighteen
hundred and eighty-seven. In all other respects the revenue
laws of the State in force on the first day of April, eigbteen
hundred and eighty-seven, shall remain unchanged.
2. Nothing herein shall be construed to affect in any way
the amount of fees limited by the resolution aforesaid for
licenses operating between the thirtieth day of April, eigh-
teen hundred and eighty-seven, and the first day of May,
eighteen hundred and eighty-seven.
3. These resolutions shall be in force and become operative
on and after the first day of June, eighteen hundred and
eighty-soven.
