Chap. 43.—An ACT to repeal the laws for the protection of fish in
New river and its tributaries. .

Whereas New river runs a distance of twenty-nine miles
within the limits of North Carolina, and the South fork of
New river and Little river, both very large tributaries of
New river, and almost entirely within the State of North
Carolina, and the State of North Carolina bas no law for the
protection of tish in New river and its tributaries; and
whereas the laws of Virginia make it a penal offence to take
any fish from the waters of New river in any other way than
by means of a hook and line, in the limits of Virginia, they
work creat injustice and hards ships to the citizens of Vi irginia;
theretore,
1, Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
all acts and parts of acts now in force in Virginia for the pro-
tection of fish in New river and its tributaries, be and the
same are hereby repealed.
2. This act shall be in force from and after its passage.
