Chap. 427.—An ACT to incorporate the town of Keysville, in the
county of Charlotte.
Approved May 24, 1887.
1. Beit enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the town of Keyaville, in the county of Charlotte, as the
same has been or may be laid off into lots, streets, and alleys,
shall be and the same is hereby made a town corporate by
the name of Keysville, and by that name shall have and ex-
ercise all the powers, rights, privileges, and immunities, and
be subject to all the provisions of chapter forty-four of the
Code of Virginia of eighteen bundred and seventy-three, so
far as the same relates to towns of less than five thousahd
inhabitants, and are not in conflict with the powers herein
conferred. |
2. That the boundaries of said town shall be as follows,
boginning as follows, viz.: In the centre of King’s road op-
posite the postoffice; thence southeasterly five-cights of a
mile to a point where the lands of Miss Shelboon’s, F. J.
Gregory, and G. R. Glinn join on the Keysville and Lunen-
burg courthouse road; thence south following G. R. Glinn’s
eastern line, to where it joins the lands of Garland and Wil-
son, on the Keysville and Chase City dirt road; thence fol-
lowing this road southward to the corner of Garland and
Wilson and the land of Mr. Duffers; thence southwest fol-
lowing Garland and Wilson and Mr. Duffer’s line to the
Richmond and Mecklenburg railroad, to a point where Gar-
land and Wilson, Mrs. Jane T. J. Ansow, and G. R. Glinn
join; thence west to where Hardman and Rummell, G. R.
Glinn, and J. F. Sharp join; thence west to where Hardman
and Rummell and Mrs. Alma Bailey join; thence south fol-
lowing J. T. Sharp’s and Mrs. Alma Bailey’s line to where
they join J. R. Bailey’s lands; thence west following J. R.
Bailey’s and Mrs. Alma Bailey's line to where they join the
lands of the estate of John D. Priddy, deceased; thence
northwest following the line of John D. Priddy, deceased,
Elizabeth Foster, Shotwell Powell, and the lands of Hard-
man and Rummell to a point where the public school-house
lot joins Charles Hawkins on the Keysville and Smithville
roads; thence following said road eastward to where A. W.
Keeling and Mount Ellis church lot join; thence following
A. W. Keeling line, Mount Ellis church lot line, Hardman
and Rummell and C. K. Atwell, running north and followin
said Atwell and R. W. Priddy’s line to where the said R. W.
Priddy and A, L. Van Ness corner; thence east following R.
W. Priddy and A. L. Van Ness line to Keysville and Furm-
ville road; thence following Keysville and Farmville road
south toa point on the Richmond and Danville railroad where
Shotwell Powell and Edward Thompson join; thence east
along their line to the lands of Hardman and Rummell;
thence following the line of Hardman and Rummell and Paul
E. Fore to where said Fore joins F. J. Gregory; thence east
to where said Gregory, E. N. and Z. T. Gee, and the said
Gregory join; thence south to the corner of F. J. Gregory,
Miss Shelbourne, and G. R. Glinn on Keysville and Lunen-
burg road; thence to the beginning.
3. That H. Clark bo and he is hereby appointed mayor of
said town; that J. B. M. Osborne, R. T. Priddy, E. H. Jef-
fress, H. R. Clark, F. Rummell, R. W. Priddy, G. R. Glinn,
be appointed councilmen of said town, any four of whom
shall constitute a board, and J. P. Wood be and he is hereby
appointed seryeant of said town. Said officers to hold their
respective offices until their successors shall be duly elected
according to law.
4. This act shall be in force from its passage.
