Chap. 392.—An ACT to extend the time of payment to the sureties of
John F. Jones, late treasurer of Craig county.
Approved May 23, 1887.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the auditor of public accounts is hereby authorized and di-
rected to release from payment all damages and interest above
six per centum per annum from the sureties of John F. Jones,
late treasurer of Craig county, on account of the default of
the said John F. Jones, as treasurer of said county; and the
auditor is also directed to give credit to said sureties for any
payments made by the said treasurer and not heretofore
credited; and as to whatever balance may be found due by
said sureties to the State, the auditor shall, upon a confession
of judgment in the circuit court for Richmond city for said
balance so found due from said sureties, withhold execution
upon said amount, and the time of payment of said balance
is hereby extended so that the same shall be paid in equal
annual instalments of one, two, and three years from the
passage of this act: provided said confession is made within
sixty days.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
