Chap. 368.—An ACT to ratify and validate the voluntary consolida
tion heretofore made of the Lee monument association with the
Ladies Lee monument association.

Whereas it is considered desirable to ratify and validate
the voluntary consolidation heretofore made of the Lee monu.
ment association with the Ladies Lee monumental association.
1. Be it therefore enacted by the general assembly of Vir.
ginia, That the persons at present composing said consoli.
dated association, to-wit: The governor and treasurer of' the
commonwealth and the auditor of public accounts ex-officio
members, and Archer ‘Anderson, .Miss Sarah N. Randolph.
and Miss E. B. Nicholas, their associates, if any, and success
ors, are hereby constituted a body politic and corporate, under
the nume and style of the Lee monument association; and as
such shall be subject to all the provisions, and entitled to all
the rights, powers, privileges, and immunities prescribed bv

with the objects of this association, or with this act, or with
any existing acts or parts of acts relative to said association

2. The object of said association shall be, as heretofore, to
erect a monument to General Robert E. Lee; and to this end
to collect funds and to apply the funds already collected and
under its control.
3. The executive body of said association shall, as provided
in the consolidation of the Lee monument association with
the Ladies Lee monument association, which consolidation is
hereby ratified and validated, be composed of six persons,
who shall constitute a board of managers, with power to ex-
ercise all the functions and powers of said association, and to
fill vacancies occuring in its own body: provided however,
that the governor of the commonwealth, the treasurer, and
the auditor of public accounts shall always be ex-officio mem-
bers of said board.
4. Said association shall have the exclusive right to select
and determine the artist, the design, the material, and the
site for said monument: provided however, that said site
shall be within the limits of the State of Virginia.
5. This act shall be in force from its passage, and all acts
and parts of acts inconsistent berewith are hereby repealed.
