Chap. 355.—An ACT to authorize the board of supervisors of Bruns-
wick county to borrow money for certain purposes.
Approved May 21, 1887.
Whereas owing to the unpropitious seasons of last year,
and the unprecedented freshets in the water courses which
traverse the county of Brunswick, whereby all growing crops
on them were destroyed, there is a great scarcity of corn in
certain sections of said county of Brunswick, and conse.
quently much suffering among the poorer classes which must
continue and grow worse until another erop is gathered, un:
less some aid is afforded those in destitute circumstances
and with a view to that end,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, Thai
the board of supervisors of the county of Brunswick, be and
they are hereby authorized and empowercd to borrow a sun:
of money not exceeding three thousand dollars, to be ex.
pended under its supervision and direction in the purchase ot!
corn to be furnisbed to those citizens of said county who are
destitute, upon such terms and conditions as the board ot
supervisors may prescribe.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
