Chap. 306.—An ACT to allow R. A. Bennett, deputy treasurer of Roa-
noke district, Halifax county, additional tine to make return of
delinquent taxes.
Approved May 20, 1887.
Whercas R. A. Bennett, deputy treasurer of Roanoke dis-
trict, in Halifax county, was during the spring and summer
of eighteen hundred and eighty-five, incapacitated by sick-
ness from collecting tax tickets in his hands; therefore,
1. Be it enacted ‘by the general assembly of Virginia, That
R. A. Bennett, deputy treasurer for Roanoke district, Halifax
acunty for AR Crene trenenrer of anid county. he and he
is hereby allowed until July one, eighteen hundred and
eighty-seven, to produce before the said treasurer certain tax
accounts for said district for the year eighteen hundred and
eighty-four, amounting to about forty-three dollars, which,
through no neglect of his, should be returned delinquent, and
when said list so produced to the treasurer has been certified
to by the supervisor of the said district and the county court
of the said county, as required by law, the said Bennett aball
be entitled to a credit in his settlement with said treasurer
for the same in same manner as if he had produced said list
in time allowed by law; and the auditor of public accounts
shall credit said A. R. Green, treasurer, by whatever amount
said supervisor and county court may certify to as insolvent.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
