Chap. 29.—An ACT to amend the charter of the city of Fredericks-
burg.
Approved March 31, 1887.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
section two of chapter two hundred and ninety, Session Acts
of cighteen hundred and eighty-five-six, entitled an act to
amend the charter of the city of Fredericksburg, approved
March the first, eighteen hundred and eighty-six, be amended
and re-enacted so as to read as follows:
§ 2. There shall be elected on the fourth Thursday in May,
eighteen hundred and cighty-eight, and every two years
thereafter, six councilmen and four magistrates from each of
said wards, who shall hold their office for the term of two
years from the first day of July next ensuing their election,
unless sooner removed by death, resignation, or other cause,
and the magistrates now in office shall hold their office until
their successors, who shall be elected at such general election
so to be held in May, eighteen hundred and elvhty-eight,
shall assume their duties on July first, eighteen hundred and
cighty-cight.
2. This act shall be in force from its passace.
