Chap. 277.—An ACT to provide for the care of the colored insane of
the State, and to enlarge for that purpose the Central lunatic asy-
lum, and appropriating money therefor.
Approved May 18, 1887.
Whereas the capacity of the Central lunatic asylum of Vir-
ginia, is insufficient to provide for the care of all the insane
colored persons of the commonwealth, who are by law enti-
tled to such care, and provision for their care can be most
economically made by enlarging the Central lunatic asylum;
therefore,
1. Beit enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the sum of twenty-two thousand five hundred dollars be and
the same is hereby apprepriated for the purpose of enlarging
the Central-lunatic asylum of Virginia, so as to provide addi-
tional quarters at said asylum for two hundred insane per-
sons, and to provide fire escapes; the said sum of twenty-two
thousand five hundred dollars to be paid to the board of
directors of said asylum by warrants of the auditor of public
accounts on the treasurer of the commonwealth out of any
money in the treasury not otherwise appropriated.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
