Chap. 261.—An ACT defining a lawful fence for Nelson county.
Approved May 16, 1887.
I. Bo it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
for and within the county of Nelson, a fence five feet high of
three rails or planks or wires, not exceeding eighteen inches
apart, shall be deemed a lawful fence.
2. This act shall not take effect unless approved by a ma-
jority of the voters of said county, at the election to be held
on tho fourth Thursday in May, cighteen hundred and eighty-
seven, at which election a poll shall be opened for that vote,
and the ballots shall be “For” and “Against” the fence law.
The vote shall be received, counted, certified, and canvassed
under the law existing, by the officers conducting said elec-
tion, and the result shall be certified by the clerk of the
county court, posting a notice of said vote on the front door
of the courthouse of said county.
