Chap. 255.—An ACT to prohibit the use of pound nets and purse nets
in the waters of James and Chickahominy rivers below tide-water.
Approved May 16, 1887.
1. Beit enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
it shall be unlawful tor any person to fish with, use or ‘set on
any of the waters of James and Chickahominy rivers below
the head of tide-water, any pound net or purse net.
Z. Any person violating the provisions of this act shall be
deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and on conviction thereof
shall be fined not less than fifty nor more than five hundred
dollars, and by imprisonment in the county jail not excecd-
ing three months.
3. All acts and parts of acts inconsistent with this act are
hereby repealed.
4. This act shall be in force from its passage.
