Chap. 238.—An ACT to provide for a new registration of the voters
In the county of Orange.
Approved May 16, 1s87.
1. Beit enacted by the generalwssembly of Virginia, That
each of the registrars of the several precincts of ‘the county
of Orange shall on Monday, the fifteenth day of August,
eighteen hundred and eighty-seven, proceed to register the
names of all the qualitied voters of his precinct who reside
therein, and according to law are entitled to registration,
giving notice of the time and place thereof, for at least ten
days before commencing such registration, by publication of
said notice in two newspapers published in the county, and
by posting printed or written notices thereof at ten public
places within his precinct. Said registrars shall complete
said registration within six days from the time of commence-
ment of same; and immediately after completing the said
revistration shall cause to be posted at three or more public
places in their respective precincts, printed or written lists of
all persons admitted by them to registration.
2. In all other respects, except as herein provided, the
duties of said registrars shall be as prescribed in the general
registration laws of the State; and in making said new regis-
tration, the registrars shall be guided and controlled by the
said @eneral registration laws. and the registration herein
ordered shall have the sante force and virtue as though the
same had been made under the general registration laws of
the State, and shall be revised, altered, and amended in the
mode prescribed in said laws. The registration made under
this act shall take the place of all registrations heretofore
made in the said county of Orange.
3. The secretary of the commonwealth shall furnish tne
clerk of the county court of Orange with so many registre
tion books as may be necessary to carry out the provisions
of this act.
