Chap. 204.-—An ACT to incorporate the Aldie and Leesburg telephone
company.
Approved May 12, 187.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
Henry Fairfax, C. P. Janney, W. R. Tulles, Edgar Ish, J. R.
Hutchison, J. H. Alexander, and C. W. Littlejohn, and such
others as may be associated with them, and their successors,
be and are hereby constituted a body politic and corporate,
under the name of the Aldie and Leesburg telephone com-
pany; and as such may sue and be sued, may have, make,
and use a common seal, and alter and change the same at
pleasure, and may make such by-laws and regulations for the
government of said company as they may think wise, not in
conflict with the laws of this State or of the United States.
2. The said corporation shall have authority to acquire,
erect, and maintain a telephone line between the towns of
Aldie and Leesburg, and such other points in the county of
Loudoun as they may sec fit, and to connect with any other
lines now erected or which may hereafter be erected in the
said county of Loudoun or adjoining counties of Virginia or
Maryland, and may make all contracts necessary or proper
for the carrying out of the general purposes of its incorpo-
ration.
3. The capital stock of said company shall not be less than
three hundred nor more than five thousand dollars, to be di-
vided into shares of ten dollars each.
4. The officers of said company shall be a president, secre-
tary, and treasurer, to bo elected annually by the board of
directors, and a board of directors of not less than five to be
elected by the stockholders in general mecting, and said
stockholders shall make suitable by-laws for the government
of said directors.
5. The liability and responsibility of the stockholders of
said company shall be only to the extent of the stock held
and paid for by them, and for no more and to no greater
extent.
6. And the said company shall pay all taxes and dues to
the commonwealth in lawful money of the United States,
and not in coupons.
7. This act shall be in force from its passage.
