Chap. 195.—An ACT to incorporate the Greene and Orange telephone
. company.
Approved May 12, 1887.
1. Beit enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
Jessie Ewell, Junior, George B. Jennings, William P. Hill,
Rowland F. Hill, and C. B. Linney, or such of them as may
accept the provisions of this act, and such persons as may be
associated with them, shall be and they are hereby consti-
tuted a body politic and corporate by the name of the Greene
and Orange telephone company, and by that name shall have
all the powers, rights, and franchises necessary and proper
to locate, construct, and maintain a telephone line from Gor-
donsville by way of Barboursville to Stanardsville, and to
establish stations at any point deemed necessary between the
aforesaid places.
2. The stock of the said corporation shall consist of not
more than fifty shares, at the par value of twenty dollars
each, payable at such time as the board of directors may
prescribe.
3. The holders of the stock shall only be liable to the
amount of stock held by them.
4. There shall be a meeting of the said corporation at
such a place and on such day after the passage of this act
as the above named persons, or a majority of them, shall
appoint for the purpose of choosing such officers as they may
deem proper to manage the affairs of the said corporation for
one year thereafter, and until a new election shall take place
and their successors are qualified.
5. The said corporation shall have the power to make a
reasonable cliarge for the use of their line.
6. This act shall be in force from its passage.
