Chap. 138.—An ACT to incorporate the New River Steamboat com-
pany.
Approved May 6, 1887.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
A. L. Ingles, Joserh H. Chumbley William Ingles, WwW. B.
Hodves, and such other persons as they may associate with
them, be and they are hereby constituted a body politic and
corporate under the name and style of the New River steam-
boat company for the purpose of ‘constructing a steamboat or
stcamboats, and plying the same on New river in this State.
2. That the said company shall have the powers, rights,
privileges, and franchises necessary and proper to acquire
and construct a steamboat or steamboats for the purpose of
transporting passengers, lumber, wood, and such other freights
as they may have cause to carry from or to any point or
points on the said New river.
3. That the said company shall have power to acquire,
hold, and employ such machinery and appliances as they
may acquire, and they may purchase and hold such land,
timber, and personal property as may be necessary for the
successful operation of said business.
4. That the capital stock of said company sball not be less
than five hundred dollars nor more than twenty thousand
dollars, to be divided into shares of ten dollars each.
5. That the said company shall be and is hereby invested
with and possessed of all the powers conferred upon such
companies by the gencral laws of this State, and is subject to
all the restrictions of same not inconsistent with this act.
6. That the said company shall organize for business by
the election of a president, secretary, and treasurer and a full
board of directors within six months from the passage of this
act, and until such organization shall have been made, A. L.
Ingles shall act as pr exident, and Joseph H. Chumbley. QS BCC-
retary and treasurer of said company, and the corporators
above named shall be the first board of directors.
7. <All taxes dues the commonwealth by the said company
shall be paid in lawful money of the United States and not
in coupons.
8. This act shall be in force from its passage.
