Chap. 48.—An ACT to provide for the deposit of state funds in cer-
tain cases.
Approved January 30, 1888.
1. Beit enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the treasurers, clerks, sheriffs, notaries public, and other
officers in the counties of Frederick, Clarke, and Warren, and
Shenandoah and the city of Winchester, shall make deposit
of such funds as they now owe or may hereafter owe, or be
compelled to pay or receive on behalf of the commonweaith of
Virginia, in the Union Bank of Winchester. The certificate
of said bank of a deposit so made shall be received by the
auditor of public accounts in settlement with any such officer.
2. The money so deposited shall stand to the credit of the
commonwealth of (“irginis and shall be in all respects ‘sub-
ject to the provisions of chapter thirty-three of the Code of
Virginia, eighteen hundred and eighty-seven, except. when
the samo’ is inconsistent with this act: provided however,
that the bond required to be given under this act shall be in
the penalty of one hundred thousand dollars, and no deposit
shall be made until the bond as aforesaid is duly executed
and approved.
3. When said bonds shall have been duly executed and
approved, notice of the fact shall be given to the officers in
the several countics and the city named by the auditor of
public accounts.
4. This act shall be in force from and after the first day of
May, eighteen hundred and ecighty-eight.
