Chap. 479.—An ACT to define and extend the powers of the council
of the city of Portsmouth.

Approved March 5, 1888.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the sanitary jurisdiction of the council of the city of Ports-
mouth, shall extend one mile beyond the corporate limits of
said city, and such jurisdiction shall be construed to author-
ize and empower said council to remove and abate all nui-
sances within said jurisdiction.

2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
